Building character, resilience and hope

More than just a camp

For more than 30 years, CRU Educational Camps have continued to provide more than just amazing school camp experiences for students in K-12 by creating and delivering outdoor education programs that are designed to develop students physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually. By working closely with each school, the team tailor camp programs to the individual needs and objectives of each group. While on camp, our team of dedicated leaders take the time to connect with each camper and provide just the right mix of encouragement and opportunity to challenge themselves in ways to grow in character, build resilience, discover their potential and thrive in this changing and uncertain world.

Character

Through the experiences of camp, as well as the teaching and example of our Christian staff, we provide your students with a unique opportunity to grow in character, equipping them to flourish as they continue to develop.

Resilience

The activities and sessions on camp allow students to get out of their comfort zone and build resilience so that they may persevere in the face of the challenges life may throw at them.

Schools tell us that our leaders are the main reason they keep returning year after year, camp after camp.

“The enthusiasm, energy and participation of the CRU leaders is amazing. The rapport they immediately build with the students is impressive and is remembered for a long time afterwards. It’s the main reason we keep returning.”
— Teacher at Danebank Anglican School for Girls

Being on camp is not “just a job” for our team of dedicated, approachable, engaging and qualified leaders. Each leader is passionate about spending time with campers, getting to know who they are and doing camp life alongside them - that’s why our leaders are with campers from daybreak to bedtime.

Often the most meaningful conversations and connections are made during the incidental parts of the day - sitting together during a meal, watching the sunset or toasting marshmallows over a campfire. Through this strong connection, a foundation of trust and understanding is formed which gives campers the confidence to take the opportunity to try new things, and the perseverance to develop and hone their skills and discover new abilities.

What it’s like on camp as a student…

“Students really connected well with the leaders and enjoyed their time with them.”

- Teacher, Kuyper Christian School

Students love our camps – the activities, the leaders, and even the food! School camps are one of the highlights of the school year and often where some of the most treasured school memories are formed.

From the moment campers arrive, to the time they are farewelled by our caring and energetic team, our focus is on connecting with, supporting and encouraging each camper to have the best school camp experience possible. We are dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment where students can grow. Students will challenge themselves and build confidence as they take part in activities and discussions that promote growth in their understanding of themselves and their place in the world - not only physically, but emotionally, socially and spiritually.

Camp days are filled with a range of activities that are perfectly matched to the age, ability and school stage, while the nights are filled with more fun and lots of laughter!

Delicious food and comfortable beds make for well-fed and well-rested campers, ready to face whatever school camp adventures the next day brings.

What it’s like on camp as a teacher…

“CRU offers camps that are professionally run. The team is always attentive to detail, organisation is always clear, and the team is trained with their outdoor abilities.”

- Estelle Stelzer, Head of Junior School, Macarthur Anglican School

Teachers love our camps and the chance to spend time building rapport with their students outside of the classroom while our trained and qualified leaders run the program from wake up to bedtime.

Throughout your stay, we do all we can to make you feel welcome! We provide some of the comforts of home, including all-day tea and coffee, and comfortable twin-share ensuite rooms with linen provided.* Access to a teachers retreat gives you a quiet space to take some time out or catch up on some work.

We know that for teachers, there is a lot to coordinate and organise - even before arriving on camp! For this reason, every group is assigned a dedicated Program Coordinator to help develop a customised camp program designed to fulfil the aims and outcomes for your school. Having a dedicated person to coordinate the camp program and booking details helps to reduce the administrative burden on teachers and other school staff.

“CRU Educational Camps allow students to grow and learn in a fun, social and balanced environment. At every camp, students are matured in their ability to overcome academic challenges at school, provided with opportunities for social development in a different environment, learn leadership and teamwork skills, and grow in their confidence.”
— Graham Anderson, Former Principal, Arden Anglican School
