THE SUMMIT DIFFERENCE

SUMMIT'S AIMS

  • Educational - to provide an educational experience that goes beyond the classroom.
  • Social - to build relationships between students and teachers as well as foster independence and self esteem.
  • Physical - to give campers new opportunities to be challenged and to participate in a positive, safe environment.
  • Spiritual - to give students opportunities to hear and respond to the Christian message.

TAILORED PROGRAMS

  • Summit staff will design and direct all programmes in consultation with you to ensure that your specific needs are met and the best outcome achieved.

TRAINED INSTRUCTORS AND ASSISTANTS

  • Summit's approachable and qualified team are involved in the entire programme from the start of camp until its completion on the last day. Our team are always on hand to answer questions and change programme components to suit the changing needs of camp. This allows teachers to get on with the business of getting to know students better.
  • All full time Summit staff have First Aid qualifications.
  • All Summit assistant staff are trained under the Vocational Educational and Training (VET) programme established for the Outdoor Recreation Industry.

SUPERIOR CARE

  • Summit Educational Camps provide the best care for your students. Each camp has a minimum of 1 leader for every 10 campers.

SUMMIT STAFF INVOLVEMENT

  • Unlike other educational camp providers, Summit leaders are involved in the entire programme from the start of camp until its completion at the end of the final day. This ensures optimum supervision, quality instruction, safety and relationship building. Leaders are on call around the clock and are involved in the running of all activities and meals. Teachers are therefore never forced to fill in programme gaps. Furthermore the camp director is always available to discuss variations to the programme with you, and to provide linkages between camp and the classroom. This results in your camp becoming an integral component of the years teaching programme.

SCHOOL STAFF INVOLVEMENT

  • A unique feature of Summit Educational camps is that teachers are not required to run any sessions or meals. During the camp teachers are free to observe or participate in activities as they deem appropriate, rather than being required to adopt an "up-front" role. The only requirement is that teachers are involved in determining the "lights-out" policy, supervising showers and settling the students into bed at night. Of course, the Summit staff are available as a back up at all times.

SEQUENCING

  • Summit recognises the importance of providing camping programmes that build on previous experiences and provide a learning platform for the future. Therefore Summit provides a range of camping options that allow for the sequential development of skills and knowledge.
  • Students can begin their camping experience in Kindergarten and continue to Year 12. During that time they will be exposed to a broad range of activities, natural environments and campsites.
  • The Summit team can either design a programme to compliment your school's existing outdoor education programme, or develop something from scratch!
