CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
In 2003, Crusaders embarked on a large scale redevelopment of our Galston Gorge and Lake Mac Centres.
Galston Gorge
A huge transformation took place over 2003 - 2005.COMPLETED:
- Ensuited accommodation for up to 220 guests
- 10 small meeting rooms holding 10-50 people each
- Disabled accessible lodges
- Gymnasium seating 600 auditorium style with stage and AV
- Indoor rock climbing wall
- Eaglesview Auditorium seating 200 with full conference facilities
- Amphitheatre
- Pool enclosure with shade sails and bathrooms
- High ropes course
- Upgrades to BMX track, archery range, beach volleyball, low ropes course and campfire area.
STILL YET TO BE DONE:
The last piece of the Galston Gorge puzzle is the kitchen and dining hall.
As the Centre is now capable of holding over 200 guests, the old kitchen and dining hall (which coped well with a maximum of 100 people) is struggling to cope. Both the dining hall and kitchen are too small for the large numbers and one servery is now inadequate. The kitchen staff find this current situation frustrating and increasingly difficult.
The new kitchen and dining hall will be much larger, have more than one servery and be fitted out with modern equipment to make life easier for the kitchen staff and guests.
For a sneak peek - take a look at the proposed architectural plans.
We are also going to build a second large meeting room (12 x 15m) to help address the meeting space needs of multiple groups on the site at the same time. This meeting room will also be used as a temporary dining hall while the new dining hall is being rebuilt.
WHERE WE'RE UP TO:
A Development Application for the kitchen and dining hall was approved in January 2008.
We anticipate that the second meeting room will be completed by the
end of December 2008, and the new dining hall completed by August
2009.
The cost for the new kitchen and dining hall will be about $1.3million. Thanks to the generosity of many Crusaders supporters, we've already raised over $480,000. Please pray that the remainder of the funds will be found and that God's name will be praised through this whole process.
If you would like to contribute to this project, please download the Capital Campaign Donation Form or go to Raise The Roof to donate to our current appeal which is raising funds to construct the roof for the new dining hall and kitchen.
Lake Mac
Negotiations with the Lake Macquarie Council over the purchase of Lake Road and the sale of the foreshore are still under way. This process is taking a lot longer than we anticipated. Please pray that it will be resolved soon and that the outcomes would be favourable for Crusaders. The outcome of these issues will determine the possibilities for redevelopment at Lake Mac.
